Setting Up Utility Service


To establish service with the Town of Fuquay-Varina, an application must be completed and submitted to the customer service office. If you are renting, there is a $75 deposit.

If you own the property and you provide proof of ownership, the town will waive the deposit. Same day service is available as long as the town receives your application and deposit (if required) by 4 p.m.

Utility Rates

Each utility account is billed a water base rate, a sewer base rate, and a refuse rate. The water base rate is $9.74 per month with a charge of $4.72 per 1,000 gallons of water used. Additional charges will apply for irrigation systems. The base rate for sewer is $13.00 per month plus $5.46 per 1,000 gallons used. Sewer usage is based on the total water consumption.

Timely Payments

 
If the town does not receive your payment by the due date, a $5 late fee is assessed and a courtesy notice is mailed to you. Accounts whose balances and late fee are not paid by 8 a.m. on the cut-off date are subject to disconnection and an additional $15 fee is added to the bill. Cut off dates are stated on both the utility bill and the late notice. 

Returned checks and bank drafts are subject to a $25 fee. You have 10 days from the date of the letter to pay. Failure to pay will result in disconnection.

Receiving Your Utility Bill

 
You may receive your utility bill either by mail or you can sign up for e-billing - which means you will receive an email notification that your bill is ready to view online. E-bill ensures the quickest delivery to you. You receive your bill the same day it is generated with no post office delays.

Water Leaks

 
Have you had a water leak? The town will consider adjustments to the sewer portion of the utility bill in cases where the water did not go into the sewer system (service line leaks, hot water tank leaks, outside faucet leaks). Leaks where the water goes back into the sewer system (toilets, inside sinks / faucets) are not adjustable. Please contact the Utilities Office at 919-552-1404.
