Construction on the state-of-the-art facility broke ground in late June 2015 and took less than a year to complete. The Fuquay-Varina Public Service Center will combine staff and equipment from the Town's Public Works, Public Utilities and Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Maintenance Department in to one central location providing greater efficiency and capabilities to continue to deliver exceptional services to Fuquay-Varina's growing community.
Public Service Center

The Public Works Department provides weekly garbage collection and biweekly recycling collection services to more than 8,000 homes and businesses, offers regular yard debris and special collection services and maintains Town-owned streets and pedestrian walkways. The Public Utilities Department maintains approximately:
  • 2 waste water treatment plants
  • 22 pump stations
  • 140 miles of sewer lines
  • 180 miles of water lines
The PRCR maintenance department takes care of an ever-growing parks system that currently includes 20 parks comprised of more than 300 acres.

The Public Service Center includes a 21,000 square foot Administration-Crew Building, a 13,000 square feet covered equipment storage building, a salt/spreader building, material and debris storage areas, and a vehicle wash area. The Public Service Center replaces various facilities scattered throughout town with many of them 50 years or older.

Project Design

The project was designed by Cary-based Withers and Ravenel and constructed by Resolute Building Company of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The project cost $5,980,850 to construct and is financed through a conventional 15-year loan.
