Easter Egg Hunt

The Easter Bunny hops into town a week early on Saturday, April 8th bringing thousands of eggs to South Park in Fuquay-Varina for the Town’s annual Easter Egg Hunt.  Grab a basket or bag and plan to bring the kids (ages 10 and under) for what has become a wonderful Fuquay-Varina tradition.  This free event begins promptly at 10:00 am. The Easter Bunny is eager to pose with kids, so make sure to bring a camera.

Retail Coalition Meeting

Teen Day Fuquay

Teen Day Fuquay, an alcohol and distracted driving awareness program, offers young people the opportunity to experience the realities of mixing alcohol and texting with driving in a controlled situation and see the impact of drunk driving on real families by watching a simulated rescue.  The goal is for pre-teens and teens to gain hands-on experience and learn the facts on April 29 that will help them make wiser choices about driving and keep their lives full of endless possibilities.  

The event is free!  Pizza will be served around 1 pm.  Lots of prizes!  The first 250 teens to complete the Drive Wise Course will received a free t-shirt!  www.teendayfuquay.com

WRAL Freedom Balloon Festival
May 26-29
Fleming Loop Park, Fuquay-Varina NC
The three day event will feature competitive balloon flights, tethered balloon rides, evening glows and a myriad of activities planned from sunrise to sundown. Hot air balloons only fly early morning and late afternoon/early evening, but there will be plenty to do all day!  Expanded entertainment, including a classic car show and performances by Disc Connected K9s, has been added. Expect a great weekend filled with lots of activity, entertainment and food.  

With crowds expected to exceed 80,000, there are plenty of business and volunteer opportunities for our community! The Chamber will host a  Merchant, Arts & Crafts Village.  Hundreds of volunteers are needed for the festival to be a success and volunteer training will take place during April!  To learn more about business, sponsorship and volunteer opportunities, visit www.FreedomBalloonFest.com

The Fuquay-Varina Chamber of Commerce is excited to offer its 13th Annual Run the Quay road race, featuring a 5K, a 10K, a 15Quay Challenge (combining the 5K and 10K times), and a Children’s fun run! This quartet of races is held in historic downtown Fuquay-Varina, and both the 5K and 10K wind their way through charming neighborhoods in the southern tip of Wake County.

The 10K will begin at 7:00 am, the 5K will begin at 8:30 am, and the 5th Annual Children’s Fun Run will begin at 9:30 am. Register

Growers Market at Centennial Square
The Growers Market opens for the season on May 6th!  The market will be located at Centennial Square at 102 N. Main Street every Wednesday from 3-6 pm and Saturday from 8 am – 12 pm through October 7th.  Visit their website to learn about special programming or how to become a vendor, or contact Sheila Stanton at growersmarketfv@gmail.com.

Summer Camp Registration 
The Town will host weekly-themed, camps beginning June 19th for children who have completed K-5.  The cost is $100 per week for residents and $125 per week for non-residents.  Find more information or register at www.fuquay-varina.org/summercamp.

Every Sunday from 8-9 am at Fuquay Mineral Spring Park.  No experience needed to enjoy an hour of free yoga suitable for any age or experience level.  Taught by area yoga instructors.  Free.

Getting Ready for Kindergarten Program

Project Enlightenment is still accepting applications for their Getting Ready for Kindergarten Program. This FREE program is for children who will be entering kindergarten next fall and are not attending childcare or preschool. This program is open to families who live in Wake County, have limited family income and have a child who was 4 by August 31, 2016. For more information call 919-664-7789.
