Age Cut-off Date: August 1, 2017 (player age on 8/1/17
Fee: $40/Residents; $65/Non-residents. 
Late fee of $10/residents and $15/non-residents applies to registration made after Feb 11.

Divisions


  • Practices begin the week of March 6, 2017
  • Games begin the week of March 25, 2017 (excluding 4U & 5U)

4U & 5U 

(ages 4, 5 & 6)

 

Players must turn 4 on or before August 1, 2017 and may not turn 6 prior to Aug 1, 2017.  No evaluations, all teams are assigned by the recreation department.  See more info below about league format.  New parent orientation video will be posted online.  Team rosters will be emailed to parents by February 24.  4U and 5U soccer consists of 5 weeks of practices and 5 weeks of games. All activities are held on Saturdays. All practices are pre-planned and provided to each coach prior to the start of the season. Practices are between 30-45 minutes long on Saturday mornings between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Herbert Akins Elementary School located at 2255 Herbert Akins Road in Fuquay-Varina. Players will need black shorts, shin guards, athletic shoes/molded cleats. Parents are also encouraged to bring sunscreen, bug spray and small folding chairs for your player(s) and yourself. No end of season tournament will be held.


6U & 7U

(age 7)


Players must turn 6 on or before August 1, 2017 and may not turn 8 prior to Aug 1, 2017.  No evaluations, all teams are assigned by the recreation department.  See more info below about league format.  New parent orientation video will be posted online.  Team rosters will be emailed to parents by February 24. 6U and 7U soccer players will follow a more traditional soccer season schedule. This is still a beginner league and games and practices will be primarily centered around instruction and skill building. No end of season tournament will be held. 6U soccer is officiated by soccer coaches. 7U soccer will have 1 trained official provided.


8U - 15U 

(age 8-15)
Players must turn 8 on or before Aug 1, 2017 and cannot turn 16 before Aug 1, 2017.  Players will participate in the player skill evaluation.  All players must attend the skills assessment.  Teams will play an 8 game regular season followed by and end of season single elimination tournament.  All teams participate in the post season tournament and are seeded based upon the final regular season standings.  
                                


Player Skill Assessments (Feb 18 at Fleming Loop Park)


In an effort to provide more balanced teams, players in the 8U-15U divisions will participate in a player skill assessments located at 301 Fleming Loop Road in Fuquay-Varina. At the player evaluations, a trained evaluator and staff will put players through a series of drills to determine the player's skill level. The results of these evaluations are confidential and are not shared with the players and parents. Players will need to arrive that their designated times (times will be posted online and emailed to parents), check in and go through the evaluation drill. Players should wear t-shirt, shorts and athletic shoes/cleats and must wear shin guards with socks. Bring water, sunscreen and bug spray. Parents may want to bring a small folding chair for themselves and their player as they wait. Once the player has completed the evaluation, they are free to leave.  All players must attend skill assessments.  If you are unable to attend, your child will be randomly assigned to a team.
