What will Fuquay-Varina look like in the year 2035? If the past 20 years are any indication, it may look very different than it does today. Over the past 20 years, the Town of Fuquay-Varina’s population has grown from approximately 6,500 to an estimated 25,000 people making it one of the fastest growing towns in North Carolina.
The 2035 Community Vision Land Use Plan will be the Town's guide for shaping our future. At a kick off meeting in early October, the Town actively began engaging the community in the visioning process that will allow residents, business owners and stakeholders to have a voice in how the Town manages future growth and development.
A large, week-long series of meetings, called a charrette, was held in early November. The charrette was very successful with residents, business owners, and development professionals coming together with Federal and State agencies, elected officials and Town Staff to discuss a shared vision for Fuquay-Varina. Meetings included discussions on many different aspects that will shape land use in the Town and the final plan will address viewpoints expressed in the meeting. The 2035 Community Vision LUP will help our Town make more informed decisions as we plan for a successful future.
