FVPD Honor Guard

The Fuquay-Varina Police Department established an Honor Guard in 2017 under the leadership of Chief Laura Fahnestock.  The primary role for honor guards is to provide funeral honors for fallen officers or other dignitaries as approved by the Office of the Chief of Police.  An honor guard team also serves as "Guardian of the Colors" by displaying and escorting the national flag during ceremonial occasions such as parades and patriotic celebrations.

The Fuquay-Varina Police Department Honor Guard is comprised of officers who represent the Department, the law enforcement profession and the Town of Fuquay-Varina, at various functions and events throughout the Town, the State and, at times, beyond.  The most prestigious and honorable service is the funeral or memorial service of a law enforcement officer slain in the line of duty.  The Honor Guard's primary purpose for these services is to pay respect to the officer, the officer's family and to offer support to them, the Department, friends, and the community.

For more information or to request the Fuquay-Varina Police Department Honor Guard, please contact Captain Tim Smith, Commander of the Guard, at tsmith@fuquay-varina.org.  Please note that advanced notice is required with a minimum of two weeks required notice but a month's notice is preferred given manpower requirements and other activities scheduled.
