Fuquay-Varina is part of the Wake County Public School System, the largest school system in the state of North Carolina, and one of the top performing large systems in the nation. As part of that system, Fuquay-Varina is proud to currently  have six elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and one public charter school.

Construction on Willow Spring High School began in summer 2017 and opened in fall 2019 with students from Fuquay-Varina High School moving to this school when renovations began at the current FVHS.  WSHS will open as a second high school in 2021. According the WCPSS, design of Herbert Akins Middle School is anticipated in 2020 with construction slated in 2021.  Design of a new Fuquay-Varina Middle School is anticipated to begin some time in 2020/2021.

A stone's throw from Fuquay-Varina, Wake Technical Community College has its main campus on U.S. Highway 401 a few miles north of Fuquay-Varina. Wake Tech is the second largest community college in the state with an annual enrollment of approximately 65,000 students.
