General Tackle Football Information
The Town of Fuquay-Varina offers tackle football for children ages 9 - 13. The tackle football program is an 11 versus 11 recreational league which focuses on skill development, sportsmanship, fun and safety. Rules, age cut off dates and league divisions are all in alignment with the Harnett County Football League allowing our teams to play against towns in northern Harnett County.
Home games are hosted at Fuquay-Varina Middle School (location subject to change) on Saturdays. As a part of HCFL all teams will receive a full schedule of games including home/away games, and for Pee Wee's and Midgets an end-of-season tournament and Super Bowl.
Fuquay-Varina strives to offer affordable, recreational tackle football for residents and Non-Residents that is safe, fun and engaging.
Conditioning Week will begin August 26 and will be Monday-Friday from 6 - 7:30 p.m. each evening.
Players must dress in t-shirts, shorts and athletic shoes / cleats. Bring lots of water! Players may also want sunscreen and bug spray. No pads worn and no contact during conditioning week. Players must complete conditioning week prior to beginning contact drills.
During conditioning week each player must check in with their age group. The first night recreation staff will meet with parents to discuss the season. After the first night, players will check in with their respective age group as assigned on Monday.
Each team will establish their practice schedule. Most teams will practice Monday, Tuesday and Thurs evenings from 6 - 8 p.m. and Saturdays. Final practice schedules will be posted online. Not all practices will last the full 2 hours.
