The Fuquay-Varina Police Department strives to provide efficient, effective and professional law enforcement services to the community. The members of the Fuquay-Varina Police Department are committed to providing the highest level of police service.

Mission
The mission of the Fuquay-Varina Police Department is to serve the people of Fuquay-Varina and to provide safety and improved quality of life in our community through excellence in policing. This will be achieved by embracing the core values of fairness, vigilance, professionalism and dedication (F.V.P.D.).

Organizational Structure
The Fuquay-Varina Police Department is comprised of 49 sworn law enforcement officers along with 8 civilian positions. To provide the highest level of service possible to our citizens, the department is broken down into three divisions including Administration, Patrol Services and Special Operations.
Administration
The Administration Division consists of the Chief of Police, a Patrol Captain and a Special Operations Captain along with an Administrative Assistant / Records Clerk and a Crime Analyst. Recruitment, Training/Career Development and Professional Standards are also included in Administration.
Patrol Services
The Patrol Services Division is managed by a Police Captain and the division is broken down into four squads, each squad consisting of a lieutenant, a sergeant and sworn police officer positions (to include corporals, master police officers, police officer II and police officer ranks) and a telecommunicator.
Police officers investigate motor vehicle accidents, investigate violations of criminal law and enforce state laws and Town Ordinances. Each telecommunicator dispatch police-related calls for service and answer the Fuquay-Varina Police Department non-emergency phone line 919-552-3191.
Special Operations
The Special Operations Division is managed by a Police Captain and the division consists of four units:
- Support Services Unit
- Traffic Unit
- Evidence Unit
- Investigations Section
- Narcotics and Vice Suppression Unit as well as Crimes Against Persons and Property Crimes Unit are within the Investigations Section
Support Services
The Support Services Unit consists of a School Resource Officer. This officer is assigned to Fuquay-Varina High School as a sworn officer and has the authority of all other police officers within the Department.
Traffic Unit
The Traffic Unit consists of three Traffic Officers whose primary job functions include focusing on traffic collision investigations, traffic crash reconstruction as well as traffic safety and education.
Evidence Unit
The Evidence Unit consists of an Evidence Technician whose primary responsibility is the management and control of all evidence and found property coming into the control of the Police Department, and works closely with the CCBI and the State Bureau of Investigation in storing or requesting additional testing of evidence.
Investigations Section
The Investigations Section consists of 5 Investigators. Four of the 5 Investigators are assigned to Investigations and work Crimes Against Persons and Property Crimes; one is primarily assigned to Narcotics and vice Suppression related investigations. Investigators charge those individuals who commit serious crimes such as felonies and some misdemeanor crimes. Investigators within this section also conduct background investigations for employment within the department.
