Spring 2021 - Soccer 


Registration Opens: January 18, 2021
Registration Closes: January 30, 2021 @ 5:00PM
Age Cut-off Date: January 1, 2021 (player age on 1/1/21)
Fee: Leagues $50 for Residents, $80 for Non-residents;  
Start Smart Soccer $40 for Residents, $70 for Non-Residents.
Late fee of $10/residents and $15/non-residents applies after 5pm on January 30, 2021

NEW! Start Smart Soccer (Age 3)                

Start Smart Soccer is a developmentally appropriate introductory soccer program for children 3 years old. Start Smart Programs, created by the National Alliance for Youth Sports, help kids get ready for sports and succeed in life. It is an innovative step-by-step approach that builds confidence and self-esteem in a fun and safe sports environment. It was developed by top motor skill development specialists in the field of youth sports. Parent-child groups perform motor skill tasks that gradually build confidence in children while they are having fun at the same time. Each Start Smart Program utilizes the Start Smart Sports Readiness Test to help parents objectively measure kids’ abilities. As the program progresses and children show improvement, the skills and exercises are altered so that each child remains challenged. Parents spend quality time together with their child while learning how to properly teach and support them in sports. Start Smart participants will develop proper motor skills that will allow them to enjoy and succeed in their youth sports future!

Session: March 6 – April 17 (No Session April 3)

4U & 5U
   
Players must turn 4 on or before January 1, 2021 and may not turn 6 prior to January 1, 2021. No evaluations, all teams are assigned by the recreation department. 
  • Practices begin March 6
  • Games begin April 17
  • Team rosters and practice schedules will be emailed to parents by      February 19
  • Coaches Meeting: February 25, 6:00PM at the Fuquay-Varina        Community Center (820 S Main St)
4U and 5U soccer consists of 5 weeks of practices and 5 weeks of games. All activities are held on Saturdays. All practices are pre-planned and provided to each coach prior to the start of the season. Practices are between 45-60 minutes long on Saturday mornings.  Players will need black shorts, shin guards, athletic shoes/molded cleats. Parents are also encouraged to bring sunscreen, bug spray and small folding chairs for your player(s) and yourself. No end of season tournament will be held.

6U & 7U


Players must turn 6 on or before January 1, 2021 and may not turn 8 prior to January 1, 2021. No evaluations, all teams are assigned by the recreation department.

  • Coaches Meeting: February 22, 6:00PM at the Fuquay-Varina        Community Center (820 S Main St) 
6U and 7U soccer players will follow a more traditional soccer season schedule. This is still a beginner league and games and practices will be primarily centered around instruction and skill building. No end of season tournament will be held. 6U soccer is officiated by soccer coaches. 7U soccer will have 1 official provided.

8U - 17U 


Players must turn 8 on or before January 1, 2021 and cannot turn 18 before January 1, 2021. Players will participate in the player skill evaluation.  All players must attend the skills assessment.  Teams will play a minimum 8 game regular season followed by and end of season single elimination tournament.  All teams participate in the post season tournament and are seeded based upon the final regular season standings.

Player Evaluation (Honeycutt Road Park)


In an effort to provide more balanced teams, players in the 8U-17U divisions will participate in a player evaluation at Fleming Loop Park (503 Fleming Loop Road)  At the player evaluations, players will participate in a series of drills to determine the player's skill level. The results of these evaluations are confidential and are not shared with the players and parents. Players will need to arrive that their designated times (times are posted below and will be emailed to parents), check in and go through the evaluation drills. Players should wear t-shirt, shorts and athletic shoes/cleats and must wear shin guards with socks. Bring water, sunscreen and bug spray. Parents may want to bring a small folding chair for themselves and their player as they wait. Once the player has completed the evaluation, they are free to leave.  All players and coaches should attend skill assessments.  If you are unable to attend, your child will be randomly assigned to a team.
