NC Main Street Program
Fuquay-Varina's Main Street Program
In 2006, Fuquay-Varina was selected to participate in the North Carolina Main Street© Program, developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation that promotes downtown revitalization within the context of historic preservation. Beginning July 1, 2016, the Town of Fuquay-Varina began administering the Town’s Main Street Program under the organization of the Town’s Economic Development Department via the Downtown Manager Department.
The Fuquay-Varina Main Street Program is guided by the Town Board and Town Staff with the support of the Fuquay-Varina Downtown Association Board of Directors.
What is the NC Main Street Program?
The NC Main Street Center works to stimulate economic development within the context of historic preservation, using a comprehensive approach to downtown revitalization developed by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and utilized by the National Main Street Center to assist communities across the country.
As a Designated Main Street Member, it is important that Fuquay-Varina downtown continue to set a high standard. The Town of Fuquay-Varina and its resources will work to ensure that the important principles of the NC Main Street Program are implemented and achieved.
As a Main Street America™ Accredited program, Fuquay-Varina Main Street Program is a recognized leading program among the national network of more than 1,200 neighborhoods and communities that share both a commitment to creating high-quality places and to building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. All Main Street America™ Accredited programs meet a set of National Accreditation Standards of Performance as outlined by Main Street America.
Fuquay-Varina is a North Carolina Main Street community, designated by the N.C. Department of Commerce Main Street & Rural Planning Center. The Town of Fuquay-Varina is charged with administering the program at the local level and building public-private partnerships to spur economic development that achieves measurable results such as investment, business growth, and job creation.
