Become a Teacher

The Fuquay-Varina Arts Center will be an exciting addition to our downtown landscape, and is expected to open its doors in late Spring, 2018!

Programming plans for the Fuquay-Varina Arts Center include classes, workshops and other programs in a variety of media, for a variety of ages, in both visual and performing arts. The heart of the plan is a pool of creative, dedicated teachers who would like to share their talents and skills in both recreational or curriculum-based activities, creating and activating a safe, dynamic facility that allows participants to flex their creative muscles.

At this time, we are creating a database of teaching artists who would like to offer a class(es) or workshop(s) at The Center.  The first round of programming is anticipated in late Spring/early summer; planning for classes during that time will happen early in 2018. An indication of interest is by no means a commitment to a specific time frame, but will give us an idea of what programming we can begin to put together, and what instructors we may need to search out.  Teachers sign a contract with the Town for each class they teach and will, in concert with the Arts Center director, determine the scope of the class, number of participants (minimum and maximum), day and time of the class, and the price of the class. Teachers typically receive 60% of the in-town registration cost; basic materials are most often supplied by the Town, although supply lists for more advanced, focused classes or for professional development workshops may be the responsibility of participants.
