When is a contractor licensed required?

Any project where the cost of construction exceeds $30,000 dollars. Exception: A homeowner who lives in the home and plans to live there for 12 months may do his own work without a license. A homeowner exemption affidavit is required. A permit and inspections are still required to determine that the work is in compliance with state codes.
